Vilma comments on Luis, Ralph’s political plans

A relaxed, affable Gov. Vilma Santos was in high spirit while she has commented on her love ones’ political plans. The mention of her son Luis Manzano made her grin and full of expectations as she uttered.
“Oh yes, Luis expresses keen desire to run as mayor here in Batangas. I’ll support him all the way. But as a mom, I can see he’s still unprepared, lack the acumen of real politician. If Luis asks my advice I’d tell him to take more time to put himself in a politician’s shoes. Di ko siya i-encourage na mag-politiko this early.”
About her husband Sen. Ralph Recto, with thumbs up Vilma anticipates a bright future for him if he aspires for a higher position. In fact, she’s more than willing to give way for Ralph if political conflict arises between them.
“In deeds and determination, grabe ang asawa ko sa pagpapahalaga sa anumang posisyon niya sa gobyerno. He puts his heart and mind to it. He’s that dedicated. I know our people could feel it. If by chance it happens, magpapaubaya ako sa kanya. I won’t think of running anew. Hanggang Governor na lang ako.” Vilma asserted.
Meanwhile, Vilma immensely enjoys her screen comeback in Star Cinema’s Healing. For her, the movie is something new in substance and characterization. Adding, Vilma rates her co-star Kim Chiu highly, off and onscreen.
“As an actress, Kim shows her artistic side with subtlety. I like her for that. Off cameras naman nakakatuwa siya. She’s lively, speaks her mind out. And foremost of all, I admire her innate love for her family. Iyan ang unang tinitingnan ko sa mga kabataan.” Vilma enthused.
Trivia:
Did you know that in the international scene, the first Pinay actress to garner recognition was LVN star in the early ‘50s Lilia Dizon (mom of Christopher and Pinky de Leon). Lilia was adjudged the best actress for Kandelerong Pilak in the Cambodia International Film Festival.
Another LVN star, the late Charito Solis followed her. In the succeeding Asian film fest held in Tokyo, Japan and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, she won the best actress trophy for Dahil sa Isang Bulaklak and Igorota. Charito’s feats led a top Japanese film producer to top cast her in the Gautama Buddha Story and The Princess and I, opposite popular Japanese actors.
In the supporting level, Rossana Ortiz was accorded the best supporting actress for Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara at the Asian film fest in South Korea . In the Asian film fest held in Manila, Rebecca del Rio grabbed the supporting trophy for Malvarosa.
At the same time, Asian beauty authorities acknowledged and handed the title, most beautiful Asian actress to Amalia Fuentes. Thus, Amalia became the cover girl of the top Asian magazines, with the tag Elizabeth Taylor of the Philippines.
During the ‘70s Nora Aunor and Hilda Koronel shone distinctively. At the Berlin Film Festival in Germany, Nora was named the best actress for Himala. Although Hilda didn’t win an award at the Cannes Film Festival in France, she upstaged other foreign delegates by being the most publicized, making the cover of various French mags in her much ballyhooed splendid Filipino ternos.
Among the actors, the first to shine was Efren Reyes Sr. in 1955 who got the best actor award in Ifugao that won too the best director award for the late Gerry de Leon. In 1956 the late Rogelio dela Rosa was accorded the best actor trophy for Higit sa Lahat, with Gregorio Fernandez(Rudy Fernandez ‘dad) winning the best director for the same movie.
At the Asian film fest held in Manila, Romeo Vasquez was handed the best actor plum for Ako ang Maysala. The triumph made Romeo one of the most bankable actors and box office stars then.
Erich, Consistently mum on love angle
While in truth Erich Gonzales belongs to the most popular and in demand Kapamilya female stars, publicity-wise, she seems not hugging the spotlight, compared to her peers. Some of my colleagues reasoned it could be due to her being evasive, particularly on love matter.
Those who crave for promo ruses would easily play around with scribes, concocting lies to be written, or talked about. But not Erich who shies away from controversies. Did you know that quite a number of actors fell for Erich? Yet she would never brag it.
One of the honest one who came in the open recently was Enrique Gil. He admitted that for some time he wooed Erich. “Aaminin ko she turned me down but I still consider her a special to me. She’s so nice and lovable. My admiration for Erich hasn’t changed.” Enrique was quoted as saying.
Now that the drama series Maria La Del Barrio has ended, the real score about Erich and her love team Enchong Dee comes to the fore. If the duo will be often seen together, remaining coo some twosome, then love truly blossoms between them.
Vice Ganda’s Show Goes Pfft, Blames Sarah?
So it’s on the record that Vice Ganda’s TV show Magandang Gabi, Vice would bid adieu to the televiewers anytime now. Reportedly, a musical show headed by Sarah Geronimo will replace it. Expectedly, Vice took it against Sarah, allegedly causing him to snub her.
Ever sweet, Sarah did kowtow that never has she antagonized Vice Ganda or a rift ensued. However, Vice’s critics averred he made a maelstrom out of the airing off of his program.
“Bakit kay Sarah siya galit eh di naman alam na yung show niya ang ipapalit sa di nagre-rate nitong Magandang Gabi…Vice should take it as a reminder from above. Many opine he’s acting big, a surly of sorts. He should appraise himself, correct his palpable arrogance that might bring him down.” A pen pusher uttered. So there, take the cue from here, Vice Ganda. Or else baka pati sa its Showtime ay mawala ka rin.
As of this writing, however, ABS-CBN drumbeat that Magandang Gabi Vice Ganda will be extended.
Claudine’s Fault or Not?
With the abrupt ending of the teleserye Iglot, conflicting reports spread around. One points out that its Claudine Barretto’s fault. She allegedly displayed disinterest in her scenes and requested the megger to cut short her remaining sequences.
Another issue has it that lately, Iglot fell way, way below in the rating charts which compelled its producer to put it off the air. While insiders declared that its assistant director created discomfit among the cast, out of his reported favoritism, lack of proper insight to improve the scenes.
Whatever, Claudine suffers most. Career-wise. She’s now left wanting new assignment under GMA-7.Plus the fact that the Kapamilya network reportedly has no plans to get her back. We hope not. Hope her versatility won’t go to waste.
David Impresses Co-Workers
A charming, kindhearted and dedicated actor. That’s the exact words thrown to singer-actor David Archuleta of his co-stars in the show Nadito Ako for TV-5. They’re Yasmin Curtis. Eula Caballero, Perla Bautista, Aiko Melendez. Ana Capri, among others.
For one, Perla didn’t expect that a famous international celebrity of American Idol fame such as David could be that thoughtful. When he learned that Perla notched her birthday at the set, he surprised her with a gift and a sweet note, “you’re so nice, competent actress Tita Perla. I’ll miss you upon my return to U.S.” He penned, according to Perla.
Meanwhile, Anne Curtis’s sis Yasmin who’s his partner in Nadito Ako just grinned when asked if the foreign singer-actor courts her. Talks have it she’s the apple of David’s eyes.
Intriguing Items:
How true that a vet multi-awarded actress nearly lost her temper and about to slap the helmed of a TV series if not for her second thought? She couldn’t stand the way he disrespected her stature and capacity to act several times.
“ Seguro Karma sa kanya yung biglang sinibak sa ere and serye.” Says the actress.
Most anybody notices that being a mom becomes Andi Eigennman. She’s gorgeous, sexier than before. Could it be due to her alleged new non showbiz suitor? Or because ex-pres. Joseph Estrada’s son keeps her company through thick and thin?
