This time they have attacked Angel Locsin of pretentious act in the news she aided victims In Marawi city, claiming she did just for publicity purposes only. Ah, before ranting Angel in social media make a move first to know first her background.
Did you know that in her younger years, a student and resident of Caloocan city, Angel had already a passion to assist victims of a calamity? Truth to tell, she was a volunteer of the Philippine Red Cross which she didn’t cease to continue even when showbiz world beckoned her. That’s the unknown side of Angel that those around oftentimes can attest.
Not affected at all, Angel takes her bashers in stride for what counts more lies on her sincerity to be a charitable person. “Bashers are entitled to their own opinion but should exude respect also. Unless, gusto nila sila mismo ang gustong mapag-usapan.” A colleague quoted Angel’s words.
Pokwang not Visible Soon
The manager of Pokwang, my good friend Ogie Diaz, confirmed that she’s on a delicate condition, pregnant that she is by her American lover Lee O Brian. This means that soon Pokwang won’t be visible be it on TV or films. Remember in 2015, she had a miscarriage on her supposed first baby by Lee. Now, both of them are extra careful not to lose their child to be again.
Most probably, Pokwang would finish first her guest appearance in the top-rated TV series Ang Probinsyano before the much needed respite in her acting career.

Last June 13, 2017 was the 8th death anniversary of Douglas Quijano, the original talent manager of local celebrities. This writer could not forget his memories for Doug handed me the opportunity to try showbiz reporter as his discoverer-mentor. At the time he was the editor of Movie Star magazine under Andrew Go’s Fokien Times.
When Andrew founded the Daily Star newspaper where he hired Doug the movie editor, the latter got me to be in his staff, learning more about showbiz world and the PR job. Through his assistance, I became personal pro of stars, headed by actress-producer Amalia Fuentes and the late Nida Blanca.
To recall, the first tyro Doug pushed to fame was Ronaldo Valdez. From supporting roles he turned movie idol via romance-comedy roles, notably Kaming Taga-ilog, opposite Susan Roces. Then when he handled the career of the late Charito Solis, the more her star stature shone, developed into an award winning actress in prestigious starrers that garnered awards abroad, topped by The Asian Film Festival best actress award for Dahil sa Isang Bulaklak held in Tokyo, Japan.
Before Doug’s demise, among his ward were actor-politicians Richard Gomez, Joey Marquez, brothers Anjo, Jomari Yllana and John Estrada. They were all present in his wake in grieving mood, in state of recollection of their blissful days showered by him assiduously.
Luckily, I was on vacation in the Philippines during the last days of Doug to spend time thanking him of the memorable things he had done to me. And during Doug’s burial, the scenario served too as a reunion of his long lost pals in and out of showbiz.
Ryza Cenon: No Longer With GMA-7 but…
Yes, it’s true that after more than ten years, Ryza Cenon is no longer under GMA-7 network. Upon her expiration of contract with GMA-7 Artist Center, Ryza inked a contract with Viva Entertainment Inc. Ryza made it clear though her move left no ill-feelings.
“Viva boss agreed that I can still work for the Kapuso station if given a chance to do so. That’s why I still appear in the TV series Ika-6 na Utos. Maayos pa rin ang relationship ko sa bigwigs ng GMA-7.” Ryza confided to the press people with a nod that she’ll try daring, sexy roles be it in TV or movies which she has not done yet.

In her instagram Nadine threw replies such as “your minds belong to the gutter.” And “I don’t care if you attack me but not my friends. I’ll shut you.”
Some of Nadine’s fans love her ‘palaban’ disposition while others showcase surly reaction, worry for her. They advised Nadine to keep her cool, not to be affected. Whatever, all unanimously echo their loyalty and support for Nadine. Meanwhile, Nadine’s boyfriend James has been baffled why he’s branded a cheater, worse to a chum of her at that.
Muhlach Clan Reunited
Through Nino Muhlach their clan had a reunion recently albeit some differences within the Muhlachs. Nino organized a surprise bash for his dad Alex who notched his 75th birthday. Those who graced were Nino’s children, uncles, aunties and close relatives, not to mention the long chums of Alex.
The unexpected appearance of Alex’s sibling Amalia Fuentes in wheel chair all the more made the affair memorable. Amalia was emotional, broke into tears but still can’t talk after her stroke two years past. Guests reported that Amalia, her son in law Albert Martinez hugged each other with no animosity whatsoever. So with Albert’s son Alfonso who showed rapport with his uncles Alex and Cheng.
Anne to Co-Star with Liza in Darna?
Right after Liza Soberano has been confirmed to delineate the new version of Darna, it’s bruited around that Anne Curtis might portray the main adversary of Darna, the snake woman called Valentina. Queried about it, Anne broke into laughter, claiming she was not offered yet.

In the recent battle round of the ongoing singing talent TV show Teen Voice Philippines, Canada based Alyssa Grace Datu was the choice of judges Sharon Cuneta and Lea Salonga. Sharon turned teary-eyed to hear her song Sana’y Wala ng Wakas belted by Alyssa. Sharon commented that in the high notes, Alyssa was effortless and in the lower end very comfortable.
This early, not a few, including this writer, are all rooting for Alyssa to make it to the finals. Whatever transpires, congrats to Alyssa and her parents Gerrie and Grace Datu.

Phenomenal star Maine Mendoza still categorizes herself a reluctant actress despite her unprecedented achievement in showbiz. Thus, she simply ignores that she falls into the flash-in the-pan level of success. “I don’t mind it. After all if I’d lose my fame easily, I’ve accomplished things I did not expect in a short time.” Maine voiced out.
A product of a well to do family who studied abroad, Maine is all willing to concentrate on her family’s businesses if suddenly showbiz world closes her door to her.
Televiewers who regularly watch the TV action-drama series Ang Probinsyano echo that after a long absence in acting ex-Senator Lito Lapid showcases action prowess he’s noted for. His many rough and tumble sequences attest he won’t be tagged King of Stunts for nothing. For sure, more producers, be it on TV or movies will get him for new projects. Just asking, would it mean goodbye to politics for Lito?
