SENATOR LITO LAPID DENIES TALKS ABOUT HER TEEN DAUGHTER

Now that the teen daughter of Senator Lito Lapid named Ysabel Ortega by singer Michelle Ortega joins showbiz via the ABS-CBN TV series On the Wings of Love, talks have it that Lito disapproves it. That allegedly, the two are not yet on good terms.

On the contrary, Lito’s confidante revealed to this writer that Lito supports and happy for Ysabel’s move to try a showbiz career. “In fact, Senator Lapid won’t leave stones unturned for her to reach success in the entertainment field.” My informant quipped.

Truth to tell, in the press con tendered for Ysabel who forms the love triangle with James Reid and  Nadine Lustre in the plot of On the Wings of Love, she herself intimated that through the years her dad supports her albeit she seldom sees him. In between tears, Ysabel divulged to the writers.

“I love my dad and miss him so much. My Christmas wish is to spend my time together with my father. Hopefully, when I celebrate my birthday in January 2016, he’ll be around too. Honestly, I can’t forget he has spent for my studies from my pre-teen years up to this time I’m sixteen. I understand fully the situation of my parents.”

Eventually, megger Gerry de Leon’s Ifugao ( a saga on the ethnic tribe in the Mountain province) won several awards at the Asian Film Festival. The movie was released in Europe and U.S that catapulted Gerry in the list of the world’s ten best directors as announced by the authorities in U.S.

At the Cannes International Festival in France, it was the time of director Ishmael Bernal to shine through his prestigious movies Nunal sa Tubig and Himala, both exhibited internationally. He was followed by Lino Brocka who’s Insiang and Jaguar shone too at the Cannes and were shown also in various countries.

The son of Premiere Productions’ owner Cirio Santiago made a name of his own for directing many foreign movies shot in the Philippines that starred international actors. Among them John Saxon who co-starred with Fernando Poe Jr. in Wall of Hell and Bus to Bataan, top billed by Hollywood actress Katherine Ross.

In the acting category, the local actors recognized at the Asian Film Festival for bagging the best actor trophies were Rogelio dela Rosa (Higit sa Lahat), Efren Reyes (Ifugao), Romeo Vasquez (Ako ang May Sala) at the Asian film fest held in Manila in 1957. I t was Leroy Salvador who was adjudged best supporting actor (Biyaya ng Lupa) in another Asian film fest.

In the distaff side, Charito Solis was declared best actress (Igorota) at the Tokyo International Film Festival. This ushered her to be the female lead in the high-budgeted Japanese movies Gautama Buddha Story and The Princess and I. Superstar Nora Aunor came next via Himala that received plaudits, recognition in Europe, U.S, and South America, highlighted by the CNN award handed to Nora as Asian Actress for All Times.

Classic Beauty Hilda Koronel hugged the spotlight at the Cannes Film Festival through her solo starrer Insiang. Foreign movie critics showered Hilda with praises not only for her physical attributes but also for her splendid performance. She got kudos from the American critics and press as well during Insiang’s showing at the U.S theaters.

In fact, her beauty and talents prodded American actor Nicholas Hammond, who later portrayed the original Spiderman in the Hollywood flick) to accept the role opposite Hilda in Cherrie Blossoms, shot in Japan and produced by Lea Productions.

Nora’s TV Series Beats Kathryn-Daniel Show

According to the survey company AGB-Nielsen, in Metro Manila Nora Aunor’s new drama TV series Little Nanay got 22% .Its rival series Pangako SA Iyo (Kathryn Bernardo-Daniel Padilla) had 21.9%. Nation-wide, however, Pangako… has beaten Little… as it remains the most watched teleserye.

Whatever, Nora expressed her gratitude to the GMA-7 bigwigs for her TV comeback, with a wish that her loyal followers will continue supporting her. At the same time, Nora substantiated that she’s all praises for her co-star Kris Bernal who surprised her, out of her propitious working attitude and inherent talent to tackle heavy scenes.

The Muhlachs Put Aside Differences with Amalia

It’s an open book about the off and on differences between ex-movie queen Amalia Fuentes and her siblings Cheng and Alex, plus her grandchildren Alyanna, Alfonso and Alexandra that occurred at the wake of the children’s mom, Liezl Martinez.
