So sorry, dear readers, much as I wish to, I can not give you the final count for the top national positions in the recently- concluded Philippine elections. Wait pa tayo sa mga balota from Mindanao and other parts of the Visayas daw. Sabi naman ng Comelec noon, we will know the final results na 2 days after elections- hindi nangyari. I am sure however that when this issue comes out, Balita will have the numbers for you.
Huli na ang lahat for this elections at least.
We give credit where it is due- Congratulations, Comelec!Bow daw sa Comelec ang Makati Business Club, Integrated Bar of the Philippines, Management Association of the Philippines, and the Concerned Citizens’ Movement led by UP Prof. Harry Roque, isa ring magaling na analyst. Sabi ng maraming former Comelec critics: ‘We are happy that we were proven wrong.’ Topping them all is the APRUBAL of running priest Fa. Robert Reyes who even officiated a mass in Comelec and offered a white rose each for the Comelec commissioners as his gesture of congratulations for a good election day
I feel very sad about Mr. Villar dahil at the beginning, I thought sya na ang bagong mukha ng tagumpay. Di sya nakagulapay sa dami ng controversies and kaliwa’t kanang batikos sa kanya from Jamby Madrigal, Juan Ponce Enrile, Erap himself, etc. He was the first to concede. He also aired the hope that he be given the chance to disprove the allegations made against him- chismises that caused his painful defeat.
It was because of Toto’s insistence- he wanted a space in the parking area kasi. He was also voting in the same school. Ako naman, I found my name but only after going up and down two schoolbuildings. Sinwerte na ako sa ikatlong building. That’s where I was to vote- Clustered precinct 1041, polling place 4439a. Kasabayan ko ang ang daming mga sisters- mga madre ng kabarangay kong Betania- House of Retreat for Women(located along NDomingo, near the former Pepsi Cola plant in Balete Drive) and other neighbors. Generally smooth ang proseso but naawa ako dun sa isang mamang nauna ang pagboto sa akin- REJECTED ang kanyang balota and it was fed to the Picos machine 4 times! When the election personnel checked, they found light smudges that may possibly have smeared his palm on the ink used for our thumbmarks. Very disappointed itong mama… Ako din and the rest of the voters in the schoolroom at the time ay nanghinayang sa boto nyang hindi naisali.
They were not dis- appointed. Except for very few places, mabilis nai- proclaim ang ating local officials to the delight of us all.
Mukhang star- studded ang Kongreso when it convenes soon. Dami celebrities led by Imelda Marcos- yes, grandmadir Meldy won by landslide in Ilocos Norte- nakamit ang pangarap. Imee won the governorship in the same province- by landslide pa rin and Bongbong, the only son looks like a sure winner for the Senate. Medyo tindig- balahibo lang for me kasi sya ay Number 7 sa bilangan- that’s his father’s lucky number.
Adding luster to the next Congress is Manay Gina de Venecia who won by a big margin in a district in Pangasinan, Pambansang kamao Pacquiao in Sarangani, Lucy Torres- Gomez who took over hubby Richard Gomez’ bid when he was disqualified by Comelec-last minute, ha!, Dan Fernandez from the 1st district of Laguna, Lani Mercado, 1st district of Cavite …meron pa yatang iba that I am missing to mention.
Sad naman for the outgoing leadership that although may karampot na wagi sa mga kandidatong mula dito, mas marami yata ang talo- former Justice Sec. Raul Gonzales and former Executive Sec. Eddie Ermita among them.
And so, life in the country will hopefully get back to routine. Nanawagan na ang MMDA, dating opisina ng natalong VP candidate Bayani Fernando na balikan at imisin ng mga kandidato, panalo man o talo ang kanilang kalat na streamers/ buntings- hosme, gabundok talaga all over Metromanila ang kalat- nightmarish sa tagalinis!; ang Armed Forces naman have fielded troops in MetroManila to help clear the debris- aba, laking pakinabang sa ating mga sundalo. They were there to keep peace before, on, and after election day. Now they are here again to clean up.
We are thankful that the first automated election was a success- wala daw dayaan, yehey! Maski daw dun sa infamous town of Sto. Si FPJ at Allan Cayetano received ZERO vote there! This time naman daw, maski naman daw yung low- rating na kandidato got maski na one vote naman at hindi ZERO.
We are happy that the people have chosen their RESONANCE- let us not judge the people’s own, personal and individual choices. Choices nga nila yan kasi at wala tayong pakialam. Igagalang natin dapat. Hwag na natin i- analyze at husgahan (hwag nang magdunung- dunungan, in other words) to death que mga maralita botante yan who do not make distinctions between pantasyas and realizable hopes, or botong illiterate, or botanteng sumunod lang sa agos ng popularidad ng kandidato, hay naku, walang katapusang analysis.
There were reports of vote- buying, however. But who knows for sure? Baka ibinulsa ng wais na voter ang datong and then he made his real choice when he filled up his ballot.
It is our hope that the next 6 years will be good ones for us Pinoys- I hope we grow and mature as responsible citizens of this country (ibig sabihin, mangi alam na tayo, suriin ang transaksyon ng gobyerno at kapag malo, sumigaw ng ‘FOUL!’.
NOW NA!
What a good beginning for us all!
Thanks, dear readers! Cheering squad naming kayo as we make our way to a better Philippines!
