Because of Robin Padilla’s open dislike for the ex lover of his daughter Kylie Padilla, none other than Aljur Abrenica, a colleague queried Robin about his comment on Rayver Cruz who’s reportedly the new ardent suitor of Kylie. According to my source, Robin approves of Rayver to be Kylie’s bf to be for he’s known for his gentlemanly ways and family oriented.
“Right now I leave it to my daughter whatever she decides on love matter. Alam ko natuto na siya. One thing more, lately I concentrate in the filming of Andres Bonifacio. It’s a dream fulfilled for me to enact the second most loved Filipino hero. I consider the role a milestone in my acting career.” Robin was quoted as saying.
Going back to Kylie, since she has started shooting the flick Dilim for Regal Films, she learns more about Rayver who’s her leading man. “I do realize bukod sa cute, nice person, Rayver’s funny guy through and through. I enjoy working with him.” Says Kylie who keeps mum if Rayver showcases seriousness in wooing her privately.
Derek Clarifies Issues on Poser, Jennylyn and Kris
So it’s true that a poser of hunk actor Derek Ramsay goes out to pretend via phone calls that he’s Derek in contacting lady real estate agents. And worst, tries to court them with indecent proposal or phony promises. At this writing, Derek is on the brink of catching the culprit, giving him a stern warning.
On the rumor that he is that way with his screen partner in the Metro Manila Film Festival entry titled English Only Please Jennylyn Mercado, he negated it. “What else is new? If one has new reel love interest, sasabihin nagkadebelopan kayo. In truth, both of us put such talk in stride. I’ve not seen Jen for a time. She’s in London pero pag-uwi niya she’ll finish shooting our starrer.” Derek snapped.
On the somewhat unsavory things thrown to him and Kris Aquino, Derek inveighs why others try to annihilate their friendship. “Good thing, just like me Kris remains unaffected. Up to now, we treat each other with trenchant. Close pa rin kami as friends.” Mused Derek.
Trivia:
Speaking of Kris Aquino, some readers have requested me to include Kris in my trivia. Well, did you know I’ve never been that attached to her? Yet when Kris was still out of showbiz and in her early teen years, I was among her few acquaintances in the movie press.
The first meeting with Kris occurred during the inaugural bash of her late mom Cory Aquino as elected president of the country at Malacanang. To recall, Aga Muhlach’s dad Cheng who was my long time pal became the first showbiz guy who openly supported Cory during the campaign period. Cheng transformed his place in QC as campaign headquarters for her.
Greatly influenced by Cheng and at the same time a believer of Cory, I turned transparent supporter of Cory. That was the reason I resigned from Philippine Daily Express as movie editor of its sister company Evening Express, owned by the Marcoses. At that, out of gratitude, Cory sent an invitation to me and my family to grace the affair. Thus, when I was introduced to Kris at the Malacanang party, she blurted out.
“Ah, so you’re Tito Nap. I often read your column. Di ba pareho tayo nang sinusulatan, Pilipino Star Ngayon? (Kris had then a regular column on teen life).
The next time I had crossed path with Kris, she was already a popular movie star, with several blockbusters, including a movie with her first actor-chum Aga Muhlach for Regal Films. Showing her retentive memory, Kris was the first to greet me. However, our looming friendship didn’t push through.
Such aborted closeness could be ascribed during the height of Kris’ romantic involvement with then Paranaque mayor Joey Marquez. It so happened that this writer put much weight on my profound attachment with Joey’s partner Alma Moreno and her pro, the deceased Mila Parawan. I wrote an item which thoroughly sympathized with Alma, somehow not chary with Kris’ feelings.
Being a frank person, Kris didn’t surprise me at all when I bumped into her in one occasion. An irked Kris told me pointblank. “Galit ako sa iyo Tito nap.” As she threw an irate look before she turned her back to me. Honestly, I did not take that incident against Kris albeit there were onlookers around.
Once I dropped by the Mowel fund office (showbiz version of SSS) when its staff. led by chairperson Boots Anson Roa prodded me to join them as guests at the TV show Pilipinas Game ka na Ba, hosted by Kris. Right after I confided to Boots about my tiff with Kris and that I was banned from ABS-CBN for my critical write ups on its stars, Boots made the move to call up Kris, ABS-CBN management.
A cheerful Boots divulged the ban was lifted. That Kris had no resentment whatsoever. To make it short, Kris displayed an amiable nature to me anew, saying on second thought she realized my objective nature in penning the item on Alma. Truthfully, although we’ve never been chummy, I’ve valued what she did prior to my departure for Canada. Through a mutual friend, she sent me a message of good luck, better chances of happiness in Canada. This elucidates an inherent caring Kris in any language.
