RESURRECTION

By | May 1, 2011

When we thought that everything is finished and done, we are wrong; it is just the beginning of a new chapter of life’s challenges and trials. It is thought that even death can’t stop a belief if the faith is so strong.

As promised, based on readers’ request for more spiritual enlightenment article, we’ll dwell on spiritual sharing of our actual experiences in life. Now after Holy Week the reality of our daily life sets in.
The completion of the Passion of Christ is the resurrection. Without it, he is just the same as the mortal heroes who laid down their life for a cause and/or belief. But with Jesus’ coming to life after death gave us a different meaning of hope, chance, and perfection.
When many of us thought we live and die the way we live today…. think again. The Easter event is a sign of new hope for us; a chance to redeem ourselves. We should not give up even when we failed a hundred times in our life.

RUBEN VILLAR

This is a story of a resurrected person. When I started my mission, there were several people who wanted to help for different purposes. Some were noble and some were personal. Some wanted to be like me while others wanted to be more than me. And there were some who simply wanted to serve.
Ruben was one of them, but his reasons were different. He wants to be identified with someone like me in order to have connections that can help him with his daily survival. But like what I did to those who wanted this ability for their personal gain, he was not invited to be part of our group.
Then, together with other individuals, they formed a small group and went to several places hoping to find what they want. But then, after several years, he came back to us. This time, after passing several requirements to be one of those who will serve in the mission, he was accepted.
But like the saying goes, you cannot teach an old dog new tricks. He was such an annoyance to the group’s harmonious existence. I still kept my tolerance until it was tested to its maximum and he was then ordered to be expelled from the place of mission and expelled from the group.
Days have passed and he showed remorse and desire to be back in the fold. I recommended his reinstatement as member of the mission to the elders of the group and he was accepted. Slowly, this time, he showed a different kind of person. From being a selfish individual who thinks only of himself, he is now transforming into a person who thinks of others first before anything else. He is slowly turning to mellow down unlike before when he was so boastful and rude.
With these changes, his life suddenly changed. Simultaneously and spontaneously, his long lost family and friends found him. This time they believe in what he says not like before where his words lack sincerity and truthfulness.
And the best of all, his wife, whom he was separated for a long time with no communication, finally found him. And with a short exchange of words, Ruben was finally accepted and was invited to return home.
As of today, he is now with his wife, planning a better future for them. Whereas just last December, he was telling me that I would be the one to take care of his remains just in case he perish unexpectedly for nobody will take care of it. Then, after several months, things are different. He is out on our mission and at the same time doing another mission — a personal quest to redeeming his self.

The story of Ruben is the story – may be a part or the whole story – of each and every one of us. When we thought that we are living dead waiting to expire, look at what happened in the time of Christ, all the signs and path were laid for us to follow. Things will turn from worst to better for us if we decided to change and redeem ourselves without expecting anything in return. Ruben was surrendering his case. Giving me authority to his body when the worst comes for nobody cares about him anymore is a clear sign of surrender.
When we give our case to the Lord as sign of giving Him full authority over our case, then the miracles will set-in for it is the mysterious hand of the Creator that moves and not of man. Only then will the mystery of divine intervention prevails.
