Start giving this new year by supporting the incredible work that Plan International Canada has been doing to help keep girls in school, especially in countries where over 11 million girls are at risk of not returning to schools. Plan International Canada is working with communities across the globe in 75 countries, which includes the Philippines, to educate leaders on the importance of education and to empower girls to speak up for their rights.
Girls living in low-income regions, including those in the eastern part of Visayas and in many parts of Mindanao, are more likely to be denied of quality education and may experience inadequate access to public services such as health care, nutrition and social welfare. But when we invest in girl’s education, not only they can learn their rights, but they can also get involved in shaping their environment that affects their lives and communities. Education can help the girls know the risk of unprotected sex and prevent HIV, and they are less likely to be forced into early marriages.
Your support and donation can help Plan International Canada to empower girls with life skills and to train them on gender equality, reproductive health rights, and HIV prevention. The organization also work together with parents to encourage education and child protection, and finally end violent practices like child marriage. You can either give a one-time donation or be a supporter of their Gifts of Hope. To learn more about the work they do and to know the ways to give, please visit their website at plancanada.ca.
