Hopefully, 2012 will be a beckoning of a wider dimension, bright days ahead and a new outlook in life
for each and every one of us. The change, behoove within us, will minimize if not totally disregard our
erratic ways. Much more so in the tempting showbiz world. At that, here’s the New Year’s memo of this
writer to the stars.
Coco Martin: That he won’t fuel disharmony between lovebirds as what transpired with Maja Salvador
and Matteo Guidicelli. His affray with Matteo over Maja generated a bedlam of sorts. Though it seems
Coco has learned a lesson. Reportedly, he nixed down offers to be paired with Maja in two projects to
shun irascible confrontation anew between him and Matteo.
Cesar Montano: As being bruited around by some fourth estates, he’s a tightwad. So he should practice
generosity this year. Most specifically, if he will try politics again. Not a few commented that his alleged
cheapskate nature caused his defeat in the past.
Rhian Ramos: Next time, it’s a must for her to look for a bf who’ll truly love, respect and never put her
down after break up. What her supposed bf DJ Mo Twister did to her via a horrendous video in internet
proves scandalous and disastrous. She needs badly a damage control for that.
Vic Sotto: A fitting memo for him is to find a lifetime partner to be, to share the remaining years of his
life and not a mere fling only. Talks have it that nowadays, Vic plays beautiful music with co-host in Eat
Bulaga Pauleen Luna. If true, wish their romance would not be simply a whirlwind one.
Jennylyn Mercado: With her relationships with Luis Manzano going stronger, hope their affair won’t end
with slur words thrown by Jen to Luis. Remember. She uttered slipshod words which were obnoxious
to her exes Mark Herras, Patrick Garcia and Dennis Trillo. Jen should spare Luis, if ever. What with Luis
likeable, lovable manners.
Diego Loyzaga: A note for him to undergo more training in acting. Not a few hurled criticisms on Diego
out of his dull, woody performances in his previous TV, movie stints. He’s a big disappointment. A far-cry
from his versatile dad Cesar Montano.
All the Muhlachs, Including Amalia Now under TV-5
After Aga, his siblings Andrew ,Arlene, (both ex-Kapamilya talents), Adrian “AJ’ Muhlach {former
member of the XLRX song-dance group from Kapuso network} and cousin Nino who directs the remake
of Kuwatog are now under TV-5. And probably, their aunt Amalia Fuentes will join them soon. Amalia’s
good chum, neighbor at New Manila, QC Manny Pangilinan who’s the station’s bigwig convinced her to
act once more.
Heard that TV-5 plans to reteam Amalia and her co-movie queen then Susan Roces in a teleserye.
Undoubtedly, their loyal followers who crave for it for years will be excited. Amalia and Susan’s last pic
together in the early ‘70s was Cover Girls, produced by the late Fernando Poe Jr.
Trivia:
Today the diehard fans of top celebrities have sustained the boisterous, fervid adulation for their idols.
Through tweeters and the likes, the fans of rival stars throw overweening statements in defense of their
favorites. Yet they would pale in comparison with the fanatic followers during circa ‘50s to ‘70s.Such
pandemonium broke loose at the time of Amalia and Susan’s rivalry. In many occasions, they mouthed
not only invectives but worst, harmed one another physically.
To the point the rift reached a serious height when Lea Productions” brass the late Emilia Blas decided
to hold the premiere night at the Cinerama theater of Amalia’s film shot in Hawaii Aloha with Susan’s
pic Bayan Ko, Lumaban Ka, a war epic. Adding to the fans’ furor was the fact the two had the same
leading man Romeo Vasquez. The diehards became unruly, not controlled by the security men at once.
This led to damages inside the theater that Mrs. Blas was forced to pay and was brazenly publicized.
In the same light but different scenario, it occurred to the theater in Mindanao showing the late Ronnie
Poe’s starrer. His fanatic fans were aghast, fitfall when Ronnie died at the end which they abhorred
a lot to happen .They resorted to silently destroyed the chairs in the cinema house. In passing, right
after the result of the 2004 elections, many Muslims were enraged that Ronnie lost in Mindanao in his
presidential bid. They angrily echoed, “ imposibleng may mga zero siya sa ibang precincts sa dami ng
loyalista niya dito.”
The Noranians and the Vilmanians not only equaled but exceeded the mania of Amalia and Susan’s
followers. Most of the time in the ‘70s, it was a common sight everywhere to hear heated arguments or
to see their diehards pulling each other’s hair. However, what was the most talk-about that time didn’t
involve Nora’s fans with Vilma. Another actress Sally Quizon (Dolphy’s daughter) was the victim. Nora’s
love team Tirso Cruz 111 was then linked to Sally who caught the ire of the Noranians. The so-called
Lucky 12 tried to harm Sally inside a resto. Luckily, she was able to hide inside the comfort room. With
the help of the guards, Sally was safely escorted. That compelled her to put a wall between her and Tirso
to avoid more trouble with the Noranians.
Iza, to Suffer Alfred’s Plight ?
Talks persist that Iza Calzado is now a certified Kapamilya star. Reportedly. She will top bill a teleserye
under ABS-CBN and be paired with John Lloyd Cruz in a Star Cinema project. Her intimates cross their
fingers that she won’t suffer Alfred Vargas’ sad plight. After leaving GMA-7, he was given a lead role in
the drama series Mutya. Then for a time kept inactive. Just recently, Alfred was handed a mere guest
appearance in ikaw ay Pag-ibig, nothing more. What gives?
Hopefully, Iza’s good career under GMA-7 will flourish more of late over the other network. Expect
too later her being romantically linked to John Lloyd. Wanna bet? As they surmised, ang tipo ni Iza ang
weakness ni John Lloyd. That’s it.
Rhian That Way With Sen. Lacson’s Son?
A news account reported that Sen. Ping Lacson admitted that his son and Rhian Ramos are attached
to each other lately. This leads others to conclude he might have caused DJ Mo Twister ire. And fuming
mad that he was, retaliated through internet against Rhian. Albeit nothing of that sorts have been
mouthed by Mo or Rhian herself.
In this aspect, some kibitzers have queried if that son of Sen. Ping could be the ex-hubby of Judy Sta.
Maria or another son. We’ve no idea about it.
Film fest Results, its Anybody’s Guess
Judging from the response of cinemagoers which entry at the Metro Manila film fest they would see
first, it’s a close fight between Enteng ng Ina Mo (Vic Sotto-Ai-ai delas Alas) and Panday 2 (Bong Revilla-
Marian Rivera). Coming up strong too are Segunda Mano (Kris Aquino-Dingdong Dantes) and My House
Houseband (Judy Ann Santos-Ryan Agoncillo) But after the awards night, if Asiong Salonga Story,
Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow will win major awards, the two would climb to the top five at thetills.
It’s anybody’s guess who’ll win major awards. Heard that Gov ER Ejercito (Asiong Salonga Story) or
Dingdong (Segunda..)strongly vie for best actor award. And an indie film entry might romp off with the
best picture, best director awards. Let’s see…
Flash reports: As of press time, words run fast that Kris Aquino snubbed Valerie Concepcion in a
gathering. Could be due to the latter’s twitter account, ‘inuna pa ni Pnoy umatend ng Xmas party kesa
unahing tulungan ang typhoon victims sa Mindanao.’In fairness to Valerie, she apologized already via
her twitter too.
Media men who graced the press preview of Asiong Salonga story echoed it’s one of the best local films.
No wonder, the Film Ratings Board gave it Rated A. They’re sure if will win major awards, including best
picture, best director and possibly best actor for Gov. ER Ejercito.
It’s confirmed that Marian Rivera will replace Rhian Ramos in the GMA-7 project MY Beloved, opposite
Dingdong Dantes. Take note, Marian only consented when told her talent fee will be three times bigger
than her previous fee. Gosh, that makes her the highest paid female Kapuso star. With her movie
Panday 2 with Bong Revilla a blockbuster, sana hindi ikalaki ng ulo niya na naman, mind you.
