Looks like Nadine Lustre’s controversies boiled down to one, her misunderstandings with film directors. After the publicized troubles with Tonet Jaodone during their shooting of two projects with her, Cathy Garcia Molina reportedly remarked she would reject a movie which banners Nadine in order not to undergo what Tonet experienced.
Now comes multi-awarded helmer Jun Lana’s not scrumptious statement he has had enough waiting for Nadine. He decided to pull her out of the flick The Nurse to be shot in Japan. “I really don’t know the reason but I could no longer stand it. Time is running out.” Jun mentioned at his Instagram.
Expectedly, James Reid has defended Nadine. He didn’t scruple to clarify that health issue causes Nadine’s problems. He clarified that meggers Tonet and Cathy have elucidated understanding about Nadine’s plight. Hopefully, James anticipates that Jun will soften up on misjudging Nadine. Ah, a real protective lover indeed. Cheers for James.

To recount, switching from news reporter to a movie writer, my first assignment to interview were Barbara Perez and Robert Arevalo, just married that time. At their Mandaluyong residence, Barbara recalled her student life before she was discovered by the late Dr. Jose Perez of Sampaguita Pictures.
“My aim those days was to be a journalist. I took up journalism course at the University of Santo Tomas. Would you believe one of my classmates then was your colleague Alice Vergara? We often bump into each other nowadays at showbiz gatherings.” Barbara uttered in glee.
In passing, Barbara narrated she appeared in comedy, romance-drama flicks and truly enjoyed working with her contemporaries Susan Roces, Amalia Fuentes, Liberty Ilagan, to name some. Out of her looks, she was tagged the Aubrey Hepburn of the Philippines.
Eventually, Barbara became a top ramp model, a part of the most famous group Karilagan models. In one of her modeling stints abroad with the said group, foreigners mistook her for the real Aubrey Hepburn. Truth to tell, while in U.S., a Hollywood film producer was so impressed with Barbara who persuaded her to audition for his forthcoming project which she passed with flying colors.
This paved the way for Barbara to be the leading lady of American actor Jeffrey Hunter (famous for his role of Jesus Christ in King of Kings) in No Man’s an Island, shot in its entirety in the Philippines. Hence, she was offered a movie contract with Universal International outfit which she politely declined.
“You see, I was then already engaged to marry Robert, my utmost priority which I’ve never regretted.” Barbara enthused.
Among the highlights of her marital life was to be paired with Robert in the award-winning flick Daigdig ng mga Api, directed by top film maker the late Gerry de Leon. Barbara, Robert won the Famas best actress, actor awards for the said pic. Another was her chance to banner a Lenten play at the Grand Opera House Himala sa Fatima. She enacted St. Bernadette.
A college graduate from Ateneo, Robert belongs to the famous Ilagan clan. His grandfather Hermogenes Ilagan was the Father of the Philippine Sarsuela who sired his noted sons Gerry de Leon, Tito Arevalo who’s Robert’s dad and actor-director Conrado Conde. Robert’s cousins include Liberty Ilagan and broadcaster Ruben Ilagan. At times, Robert sill appears in TV, movie projects.
Dennis, Jennylyn: Altar Bound
Prior to their U.S and Canada shows Dennis Trillo and Jennylyn Mercado intimated to a colleague what awaits them this year. During a Holy Week vacation, the two vowed a happy ending for their years of relationships. Dennis revealed he’s 36 while Jen turned 30. He disclosed these words to my informant.
“We have withstood ups and down in life. This time Jen and I have realized it’s proper to map out plan for our marital plunge. We’re not decided when the wedding will push through. But definitely, it’s one of our main priorities.”
Currently, Dennis topbills the TV series The One Who Got Away, with Lovi Poe, Rhian Ramos, and Max Collins. Jen has started to tape a new project The Cure under the Kapuso network.
Toni”s Moment of Panic
Did you know that Toni Gonzaga had a moment of Panic during her recent Hong Kong trip with hubby Paul Soriano and their child Seve? At the escalator, the couple noticed the cover of the mineral bottled water Seve held was missing. When Paul heard Seve’s chalked sound, he instantly removed it, about to be swallowed. It was a moment of panic for Toni but thankful nothing worse transpired.
“Paul and I have promised to be more extra careful in taking care of Seve but the incident brought us closer, more understanding in our togetherness, especially during trips abroad.” Toni confided to writer-chums.
Apparently, that could be a reason why Toni seems adamant to nod to new film assignment to be all eyes to Seve as a dutiful mom.
Alyssa’s New Concert in Canada
After her stint as a participant in the Voice Teen Philippines where she was one of the favorites of judge in the show Sharon Cuneta, Canada based Alyssa Grace has shone brighter She’s invited in many programs, especially those tender by the Pinoy communities. This July, Alyssa has Alyssa Grace Concert to be held at the Toronto Pavilion on July 28, 7:30 pm.
Incidentally, thanks to her parents Gerrie, Grace Datu for inviting me on her 18th birthday this April.

Is the spreading gossip that Gabbi Garcia would transfer to ABS-CBN a poppy-cock? Since her lead role in GMA-7 TV series Sherlock Jr. was abruptly killed, the rumor ignited. Much more so at her Instagram, she thanked all her co-workers under Kapuso network. But Gabbi’s mention of 2 sparked the surmise she meant Ch. 2.
If ever, if Gabbi would opt to be with the Kapamilya station, some opine it might be a wrong move for her. They think Gabbi might end up like Louise de los Reyes who, from GMA-7 lead star now a supporting player in the drama shows of ABS-CBN, what with many top actresses in its fold.
Sharon, Gabby’s Movie not to Materialize?
Latest brewing around indicates that the reteaming of Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion has been put on hold. Weeks ago, news of the duo’s regained sweetness spread out, with the nod of a project to be filmed. However, recently both chose to unfollow each other on Instagram.
Sharon does not palliate herself but simply stated. “I wanted a forever friendship but fate seems to disagree.” By the way, she underwent a lipoma surgery on her nape recently.

The actor accidentally noticed, was surprised to see the limp wrist has a big private part which made the former joked. “Sinayang mo yan.
