Positive and negative results engulfed actress turned director Beverly Vergel after her initial job as director of the first indie Fil-Canadian movie Living Instead. She garnered best director trophies in world film fests held in Europe, U.S. and even in Canada.
Unluckily, however, Beverly’s name had been dragged into messy controversies before and after the movie had been wrapped up. Beverly exerted efforts to clear her integrity as a person.
“You’re aware of my inner character kuya Nap for many decades we’ve been friends. Never in my life did I do something fishy, wrong doings. So I did the right thing to expose the anomalies I found out regarding the making of Living Instead. Thank God, eventually this has brought positivity in my life.” Bev enthused.
Bev disclosed that these days she’s back and forth from Canada to U.S. to meet entertainment field heads who have offered her a job. Added to this, Fil-Am and Fil-Canadian showbiz tyros often contact her to be their mentor. Not to mention the newbies in the Philippines who have asked for her full assistance too.
“I’m grateful to our Lord. Now, there’s no need for me to file a case against the person who tried to ruin me. I just hope everything will turn alright this year. “ Bev sighed.
Trivia:
In my more than five decades in the writing field, several celebrities made me smile with their words thrown to me. Whether in serious tone or merely a joke, they had ameliorated my feeling of confidence as a person. Let me begin with congress woman –actress Vilma Santos. At the time Vi served as Lipa city mayor, once she invited me there.
In her speech, Vi threw these statement. “One of my guests today is my vet writer –chum, a very nice person Nap Alip. Would you believe child actress pa lang ako friend ko na siya?” Later, jokingly I told her, “binisto mo naman ako na matanda na. “ This elicited laughter from Vi.
Similarly, I can’t forget what Comedy Queen Ai-Ai delas Alas stated when we bumped into each other inside a TV station. She cajoled, “gosh, it’s my pleasure to meet again a veteran of world war 11.” Obviously she referred to my being a senior writer.
Same could hold true to Richard Gomez when I guested his TV show then the local version of Family Feud. “Another participant is Tito Nap. Teenager pa lang ako, noted movie writer na siya. Pero mukhang magka-age level lang kami sa looks, isn’t it?”
In a different angle, in a showbiz affair held at the National Press Club building, Edu Mazano was the host of the program. Just for fun, I accepted to belt a song. Afterwards, Edu quipped. “Dapat sa iyo singer na lang di writer.” Whether a compliment or not, had brought a brunt to me.
Interestingly, some celebrities voiced out a sort of tribute to me which would never be erased in my mind. As her long time confidante and pro of her AM firm, Amalia Fuentes mattered, “whatever happens, I’ll treat you always a member of the Muhlach clan, out of your loyalty and proper behavior.”
At the height of her fame, songstress Imelda Papin volunteered to sing at my wedding. ”It’s to repay for your assistance to me and to show my gratefulness to you.” And while I was on the verge of being sued by an actress-friend of vet actress Perla Bautista, the latter defended me. “Nap has been a close friend even when I was yet out of showbiz. Please don’t misjudge him. He meant no harm.” Perla pleaded her that caused my libel case not to be filed.

Linda mentioned the flick would be a trilogy. Jolo’s leading lady might be his girlfriend Jodi Sta. Maria who, as of this writing, has yet to accept the offer. In any case, several celebrities will be in the lead, with a surprise appearance of Jolo’s half brother by Bong who debuts as an actor.

According to an insider from National Book Store, the sales of singer Mark Bautista’s book Beyond the Mark has broken the record of the most saleable, sold out in few days in all its Metro Manila branches. So many buyers still clamor for it that Mark reportedly ordered for its reprinting.
Many have surmised that the off-the record revelation of Mark’s real gender aroused the readers’ interest. However, Mark didn’t divulge his close pal-actor whom he had a relationship with before. Whatever, the guess of not a few only boiled down to a talented, handsome actor from a top TV network.

Blind Item:
An informant did hush-hush to me that a showbiz personality who treats her sans askance confessed she delivered a baby boy. The reason why she hides her relationship with the non showbiz lover is he’s married. “Now, I’m more scared for it might cause trouble to his wife and family.” My source quoted what the actress intimated.
Once, the girl had a popular actor-boyfriend. Probably, the third party led the actor to break off with her.
