June is Seniors Month in Ontario. This year’s theme is “Stay safe, active and connected”.
As a way to recognize the older adults and the contributions they made in communities across Ontario, many non-profit organizations have been taking initiatives to promote awareness about the many ways to support our seniors.
Society of Sharing: Inner-City Volunteers is one of the organizations that has been actively providing services for seniors through their volunteer-based programs all throughout the year. Their mission is to improve the lives of Toronto’s isolated seniors by connecting them with skilled volunteers who provide companionship and support.
To ensure continued service and support throughout the pandemic, Society of Sharing have adapted and developed new, safer ways of fulfilling the social, healthcare, grocery and transportation needs of seniors; however, all of that takes resources. You can help make a difference in the lives of seniors by supporting the programs of Society of Sharing.
This Seniors Month, you can participate and donate to the Society of Sharing’s 5 kilometer “Walk the Walk” virtual fundraising event on June 27th. You are encouraged to take and share photos of your 5km walk, both on the Society of Sharing’s social media sites and your own social media page. Send them an email at info@societyofsharing.org to learn more about this event or visit their website at www.societyofsharing.org.
Register now and help them reach their goal of $25,000, in support of seniors in need!
