ALDEN, MAINE ON NEW ISSUE

Alden Richards’ actor-best friend Kristoffer Martin created a stir among Alden-Maine Mendoza followers. Recently, Kristoffer posted a tweet that hurting a woman is a disgrace which Aldub loyalists interpreted as ‘patutsada niya kina Alden at Maine.” They lambasted him for that but sans admitting he referred it to Alden, Kristoffer sort of drossed to say sorry to the enraged fans.

Both Alden and Maine seem unaffected by the said new issue yet soothe the temper of their diehards by begging them to cool down. The two apparently have disregarded  Kristoffer’s tweet.

Trivia:

The Philippine showbiz industry mourns to the fullest the demise of well respected, award winning veteran movie-TV director Mario delos Reyes who suffered a heart attack recently. In retrospect, this writer first met Mario through our mutual pal, the late multi-awarded Lino Brocka who was Mario’s mentor then.

Mario started his career as a stage actor via the noted PETA company where Lino was a product too. Mario intimated to me that his passion to be a director had been ignited by Lino who served as his inspiration. Eventually, Mario got a chance to meg a TV show Mahiwagang Daigdig ni Nora, led by Nora Aunor.

The initial task of film director tapped Mario via High School Circa ’65, a light comedy drama topbilled by Eddie Rodriguez, Charo Santos (Miss Baron Travel Girl winner then) and Roderick Paulate who garnered acting nominations in award giving bodies.

Subsequently, Mario turned a sort of trend setter through his youth oriented flick Bagets that became a household name for teenagers. It catapulted Aga Muhlach to the vicinity of movie idol while co-stars Francis Magalona, William Martinez, Herbert Bautista, JC Bonnin, Raymond Launchengco, Eula Valdes and Yayo Aguila rose to fame also.

At the height of the disco fever, Mario came out with the stuffs Annie Batungbakal and Bongga ka ‘Day, starrers of Nora Aunor that all the more established her a top box office star. To showcase innate versatility not limited to comedy-musical vehicles, Mario later directed dramatic movies.

Among them were Hindi mo Ako Kayang Tapakan (Charo Santos), Kaya Kong Abutin  ang Langit (MaricelSoriano) and Sa Ngalan ng Pagibig (Lorna Tolentino) which received accolades. But of course, the legacy he left behind was the multi-awarded Magnifico which bagged several trophies at the  international film festivals and locally. Through this film, from a child actor Jiro Manio had been declared a versatile performer.

In passing, the closeness of Mario and Jiro made the latter to consider him a second father. In his downfall caused by drug addiction, together with Ai-Ai delas Alas, Mario fully assisted Jiro especially during his rehabilitation period. A proof, how loving, helpful Mario was to his chums.In the last years of his life, Mario had been active officer-member of Directors Guild of the Philippines and and TV-movie director. His last assignment was the opus The Unmarried Wife, with Angelica Panganiban and the pilot episode of the TV drama series The One Who Got Away.

John Lloyd, Ellen Remain Elusive

Despite the fact John Lloyd Cruz admits a new level of relationship with girlfriend Ellen Adarna, the two have remained elusive on their plans. Firstly, albeit Lloydie gifted Ellen with a 3 million worth diamond ring, he’s mum about their wedding engagement. On the other side, Ellen ignores the talks she’s pregnant.

In any case, many still surmise a nuptial would transpire this year, especially when Lloydie posted at his Instagram photos of an ocular vacant property in an undisclosed place which they opine Lloydie has bought to erect their dream house. Just asking, will Lloydie and Ellen open up soon? Ah, that’s anybody’s guess.

A Review on Wildflower

Through the prodding of friends, this writer watched the last few episodes of the just ended TV drama series Wildflower via TFC. Well, they were right in the analysis the sequences were too violent, particulary the torture sequences of Maja Salvador who enacted the main adversary of the evil politician, played by Tirso Cruz 111.

However, what was offensive was the baleful misdeed the politician and his cohorts did to the role of Maja, in front of the constituents, which is against the law. Even policemen are not allowed to do so. Not a few echo how come the Movie, TV, Radio Classification Board  (MTRCB) did not react on the said very objectionable scenes?

In fairness to Wildflower, the entire cast remarkably shone, especially Tirso (best actor at the world TV Festival in U.S. for this role), Maja who proved she matured as an actress, Aiko Melendez, Sunshine Cruz and Joseph Marco.

Sharon’s Sudden Change of Heart

Those around Sharon Cuneta have taken aback by her decision to forgive someone who gravely offended her years ago. She confided to them. “I feel relieved that I’ve forgiven that person who has not even apologixed to me. I know doing so makes a better, stronger individual.”

Sharon and her intimate friends have never mentioned the name of that person, leaving many in pins and needles guessing it. But as what Sharon asserverates, these days she thrives on positive things, particularly on her family and career.

Blind Item:

A veteran showbiz couple nodded to a query that one child is enough for them. But with a grin the actress affirmed sex act comes frequently. “You know, I’m the jealous type so usually I ignite quarrel between us. And to soothe him, I’d make the move to sexually seduce him. Tapos, wala na siyang galit sa akin.” The actress chuckled.

What makes her to have a tiff with her husband? She’s not abashed to say everytime she hears talks that he allegedly gives in to a flirting girl.

Elmo’s Fans React to Jenine’s Rant

Diehards of Elmo Magalona have reacted to Janella Salvador’s mom Jenine Desiderio who dislikes him for his daughter. They echo Jenine’s asperity on Elmo an improper act for he’s a decent man. “To call Elmo mkapal mukha, sinungaling not acceptable for he’s a nice person, with sincere intention on Janella.” Elmo’s followers insisted.

However, Jenine’s camp retaliated, saying she didn’t mention any name at her Instagram so why those fanatics are affected. Meanwhile, Janella keeps mum on the issue, obviously just to play safe.

Latest Tidbits:

Once and for all, Marian Rivera wants to put an end on the blabber between her and Karylle, the ex of her husband Dingdong Dantes. Rumors persist that the two still throw bilge to each other. In contrast, Marian remarked she exchanged  pleasantries with Karylle in a recent fashion show. Marian attested there’s no reason to have a tiff with Karylle for like her she’s happily married.

Some observers have pointed out that Louise delos Reyes made a wrong move in her transfer to the Kapamilya network. They claimed that from lead, title roles in the TV series from kapuso station, she tackles mere supporting roles, the latest Asintado, the new tele serye of ABS-CBN. Ah, Louise should have thought beforehand the travails to compete with big named actresses within ABS-CBN.

Speaking of ABS-CBN, its movie firm Star Cinema once again gets Dingdong Dantes to banner a forthcoming project despite he’s with GMA-7. Previously, he starred in several flicks of the same outfit. Dingdong mattered his gratitude for both the mentioned networks for the trust handed to him.

Incidentally, award winning movie helmer Olive Lamasan replaced Malou Santos as the managing director of ABS-CBN Film Productions Inc. Malou is now the executive adviser of the said company.

2015 was the last time Diether Ocampo appeared in the TV series of ABS-CBN.He worked for TV-5 and GMA-7. Now, he’s back at the latest fantasy tele serye of the Kapamilya station Bagani. A grateful Diether affirmed his thanks to the  management for a chance to return under its fold. As usual, he’s tight-lipped on his love life.
