Mirick Productions owned by Jesse Chua shone eventually brought by the huge hit Jess Lapid Story which launched Lito Lapid to full stardom and in demand action star. MMFF Top Four Grossers
The Metro Manila Film Festival committee announced the eight entries for the recent film fest grossed a record breaking P1 billion plus from Dec. 25 to the second week of January. The top four money makers were Revenger Squad, Ang Panday, Siargao and Haunted Forest. Vice Ganda’s Revenger.. beat Coco Martin’s Ang Panday for first place at the box office.
Bashers who are obviously critics of Vice Ganda echo. “Ah. Lalong yayabang, lalaki ang ulo niya. When will he display humility?” Interestingly, Vic Sotto’s starrer Meant to be Beh didn’t make it to the top 4 grossers. First time it happened for in the past Vic’s films at the MMFF, his entries landed to the top.
An Insensitive Move for Derrick
Few days back, Kapuso actor Derrick Monasterio disheartened even his fans on improper words he wrote about AIDS patients at his Instagram. It appeared to be hurting to those who have AIDS. At this writing, Derrick apologized, proptiated the offended ones.

My deepest condolences to Vhong Navarro and his family for the death of his dad Danny who was hospitalized for weeks. Danny was my officemate as lay out artist at the Balita Manila newspaper for years. That time, Vhong was befuddled why I was updated on writing about his love life, unknowing that Danny was my source. Eternal peace be with you Danny.
At the 15th International Cinephile Society (ICS) , John Lloyd Cruz would compete in the acting award for The Woman Who Left (Ang Babaing Humayo). The movie’s nominated for best foreign film and the screenplay category for Lav Diaz who wrote, helmed it. ICS honors American, non-English flicks yearly. On Feb. 4, the winners would be declared.
