~ It’s doubtful if the Philippine Consulate General in Toronto pursues foreign policy by actively partnering with rogues in the Filipino community. But it does in at least two instances. The latest is its participation in a community event sometime this week organized and led by a thief. The activity purports as a festival of sorts. The name of the organization seems to have been decided in a rush, and so are its listed members/officers assembled with no specific designations. If a thief could manage to get official endorsements, where did he get the financial support to put out posters, advertisements, etc.?

O, what a goodly outside falsehood hath. – Shakespeare
TORONTO – The sniping internet poster has turned mute since I wrote a commentary about a local thief who has managed to sneak into a partnership with the Philippine Consulate here in mounting a community event taking place sometime this week.
The Consulate has stopped responding to questions, even allowing an earlier story to circulate unchallenged about its involvement in two events which have apparently failed to meet standard criteria. Duped or sweet-talked, we don’t know.
But whatever it is, its publicized support raises questions on why the diplomatic post would go the extra length to be there and lend the prestige and weight of that Philippine government agency. Would that support translate to harboring a liar and a thief?
I doubt if such participation follows the path of Philippine foreign policy in these parts, unless of course the horrendous scale of corruption and wide-scale robbery of the people’s money by high government officials in the homeland have already affected foreign posts to the extent they’ve lost their moral compass.
It’s not for me to say that the Consulate should avoid situations where its stature would be compromised. Certainly collaborating with a petty thief taints its image. It will suffer in the process but the thief would derive untold benefits. He’ll probably boast of his success in using a government instrumentality to spruce up his soiled reputation.
I fully understand the mandate of the Consulate. What I can not grasp is its willingness to be used as a tool by a person and group to advance a nebulous cause, if there’s one at all.
But back to the internet sniper, he who signs his name as “ronniekcarpio at gmail dot com”. His latest attack was on Aug. 4, five days after I published a story on July 30 about Philippine President Aquino scrapping a proposed visit to Canada in September.
This character had nothing substantial to say except his usual sly remarks to redirect attention from him.
Not surprisingly he skipped commenting on my August 5 article about a liar and a thief; the latter seemed to be getting a makeover from the Consulate through its involvement as a partner in an activity that combines guile and trickery.
I can’t tell who the worst thief is, but this “ronniekcarpio” is also one, having stolen the identity of a real person by the same name, and uses it to assault others. It’s not unlikely that he also uses the monicker for scams and the like.
I’ve uncovered this “ronniekcarpio” and probed his relationship and links with a clique of pretenders and wannabes in the Filipino community. And I’m not surprised to learn what this clique did and does as each of the members promote themselves. One clue: they love photo ops.
In the course of my research three months ago, the other identity of this “ronniekcarpio” popped up consisting of 19 numbers and 10 characters of the alphabet. When deciphered, the alphanumeric codes leads to Yahoo Groups, which then brings out an article published in one of its e-forums.
Instead of the name of the article’s author, his assigned number – his coded identity – appears. The article starts off, thus: “Mr. … Mr… Ummm …, damn, whasisname ? y’know that muckraker, ‘journalist’ daw siya. When he alleges questionable motives and practices by people he dislikes, he squirts a cloudful of ink like the squid or the pusit leaving the reader unable to see any truth to his allegations . . . ” (To find out who wrote it, please visit: http://philippinereporter.com/2013/07/12/ode-to-the-tarsier/).
It carried the title “Ode to the Tarsier”, published on July 12, 2013 by the left-leaning tabloid Philippine Reporter owned by suspected communists Hermie Garcia and wife, Mila A. Garcia. He is the bald-headed former president of 17 members (out of 47) of Philippine Press Club Ontario. She is the piddling reporter and gossip-monger who, like her husband, loves photo ops specially with high-ranking people. The name of the “Tarsier” author has the same spelling and phonetic sound of the person identified in a poster as the lead organizer of the event in partnership with the Philippine Consulate. I still have to see if the picture of the tarsier would match those photos available in Google images.
I have no doubt that this “ronniekcarpio” is a dummy, a bogus person too frightened to fight in the open as it would also betray his cowardly associates hiding in some dugouts in Toronto.
In the meantime, the thief is having a makeover. But whoever said that a thief is a thief is a thief . . . forever!!
